A little about the gal on the other side of the screen.

At this point, you’ve probably read my about page. I decided for my first post that I truly need to introduce myself so that those following along or who stumble upon this blog feel they can truly relate with my life (and hopefully learn a thing or two).
So hello! I’m Allison Koontz. Nice to meet you, and welcome to my life as a student, intern, young professional, aspiring writer and blooming Austinite.
I’m from a small town located in the Texas Panhandle called Canyon. Never heard of it? Not surprised, as its a town of about 13,000 people. Being raised in a charming, small Texas town was mostly a great experience. I spent my time growing up finding creative things to do with my siblings and friends. Canyon will always be home, a home filled with incredible sunsets over plains and lots of cattle.
Though Canyon was an ideal place to raise a family, I was ready to get out and explore the world (I know, super cliche but this how little high school Allison felt). When it came time to go to college, I chose The University of Texas at Austin not only for its incredible public relations program but also its location.
So that’s how I ended up here, a 20-year-old trying to figure life out in the great city of Austin. I try to take as many opportunities as I can to better myself as a professional. Luckily, UT and Austin both have endless chances to meet people, start relationships and grow as a student and young professional.
Currently, this is what I am involved:
Marketing and Public Relations Intern at Small Coffee
Student Communications Assistant at The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin
Director of Texas Tower Public Relations
Vice President of Membership for The University of Texas at Austin’s Public Relations Student Society of America Alan Scott Chapter
I will be graduating and making my appearance as a full-time professional in May 2019. So follow me as I continue to find my place in the world of public relations and advertising, being an avid intern and shaking up the industry.
